Missions

Matthew 28:18-20:  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  (NIV)

After I was inspired to write a pioneering missionary romance, I found myself able to pour all my personal passions into the story.  That’s probably because missions hold a special place in my heart.  My entire family has participated both together and separately in short-term world evangelism missions in Honduras, Haiti, India and China.  We regularly support mission efforts through our church and through world organizations we believe to be effective.

For those of you who have the same passion, or are just curious, I’ve designed this page.  Here you’ll get a glimpse into the progress of world evangelism and find opportunites to help, practically and prayerfully.   My hope is that you will find something here, outside of my books, that will inspire you to take up the call to spread the Gospel, whether it’s to your neighbor or to the world.

WANT WAYS TO IMPACT YOUR WORLD?  Let me tell you about some ways my family has found effective.

WORLD HELPwww.worldhelp.net

Great organization that uses an impressive 91% of all funds collected to serve in over 60 countries through child advocacy, humanitarian aid, Bible distribution, and church planting.

World Help is also a great place to find a child to sponsor and make an impact on their life forever.  I’ve sponsored

several children through this organization.  Here’s where you can find a child to sponsor:

PENNIES FOR POSHO: www.penniesforposho.org

This organization runs the Royal School and Orphanage in Mityana, Uganda.  They are currently working to provide a permanent water source for the school as well as building more dormitories.  Pennies for Posho supports and provides food for 7 orphanages, touching the lives of over 4000 children.

My younger daughter supported a ten-year-old boy through Pennies for Posho for several years.  We know the people who run this ministry and are confident in their stewardship.

They not only serve, feed, and educate orphans, but they also send long and short-term missionaries to share the Gospel and meet practical needs.

From their website:

NEW HOPE MINISTRIES: nhmindia.com

Our family has worked with and supported this ministry for over almost two decades.  Although we were unsuccessful due to a problem with the courts in the area, we attempted to adopt two brothers from here that we ultimately supported and educated through their college/career ages.  New Hope Ministries not only house and educate orphans and chidren with families that can’t support them, but they also help women in abusive situations learn skills for financial independence, train leaders for ministry, and participate in local disaster relief. They have opportunities for you to sponsor local students, orphans, Bible college students, and local pastor/evangelist families.   Donations to New Hope are tax deductible if made through their US arm:
